De 's Gravenland was sent to Fort Zeelandia (Taiwan) in 1661, together with the Hector and two smaller ships.
In April 1661, Zheng Chenggong (Koxinga) raided the VOC controlled Taiwan. In February 1662, he forced Governor Frederick Coyett to surrender Fort Zeelandia. From then on, he called himself King of Taiwan. Taiwan only became part of China in 1683.

The Hector was attacked and blown up. De 's-Graveland, although affected, was able to put out the fire and flee the battlefield.
Eventually, the 's Graveland perished on its way back from Nagasaki to Batavia in 1663.
