History
The Velsen left Texel for her first trip on 10 April 1627 together with the Double Eagle. The ships are the first known to have made the route around Scotland (achterom) to avoid Duinkerk privateers.
After 7 years of service the Velsen ran a reef at the end of 1635 or early 1636 off the island of Wawony in the Strait of Bouton (Sulawesi, Indonesia).
