History
The Van Alsem made three voyages between 1733 and her disappearance in 1739.
By the end of October 1738, the ship had loaded 500,000 lbs of pepper destined for Persia. They couldn't sell the cargo there. It would then be shipped to the Netherlands. Her last home journey started in Gale Sri Lanka on 5-1-1739 together with the Kronenburg Castle. Subsequently, nothing more was heard from both ships. Probably wrecked somewhere in the Indian Ocean.
The List of all such ships listed as the type of stern boat "missing on her home voyage between Ceylon and the Cape."
