History
Two ships were found in the Waterstraat in Utrecht in 1974: the Utrecht 2 (extended logboat) and the Utrecht 3 (an almost complete barge).
The Utrecht 3 was discarded and reused as revetment /quay works.
Description
It was a large flat-bottomed vessel of 23 by 3.3 to 4 meters. Dendrochronological research dates the ship after around 1004. The wood comes from the Ardennes. The Utrecht 3 shows many construction similarities with Deventer I and II.
