History

The Schoppe was a small yacht from the fleet of admiral Jol. The fleet was intended to capture (part of) the Spanish silverfleet of 1640.

A violent storm that raged on 11 september 1640 discarded the fleet. Four ships stranded near Habanna. The remainder of the fleet sailed in the bay of Matanzas. The Schoppe was badly damaged and stayed behind while the rest sailed back to Recife in Brasil.
