The Schoppe was a small yacht of the Dutch West India Company (WIC) and belonged to the fleet of admiral Jol. This fleet was intended to capture (part of) the Spanish silver fleet of 1640.

A violent storm that raged on 11 September 1640 discarded the fleet. Four ships stranded near Havana in Cuba. The remainder of the fleet sailed in the bay of Matanzas. The Schoppe was badly damaged and stayed behind while the rest sailed back to Recife in Brasil.
