The route ran along Ceylon in the Southwest, Coromandel Coast (India) in the West, Bengal (India, Bangladesh) in the North and Andaman Coast (Myanmar) in the East.
The route could be sailed all year round, no special types of ships were required in the region. Important products were textiles, gunpowder, pepper, slaves and rice.
