The vessel Rotterdam Welvaren was laid up immediately after construction. The fourth English war had started (1780-1784). It was not until 1784 that she could start her first journey.

On the third voyage, Rotterdam Welvaren was lost somewhere on the Indian Ocean. All 101 people on board, including 26 Chinese, died.
