The Padang was carrying a cargo of coffee, rattans and spices when it wrecked on Muizenberg Beach at 10 p.m. Sadly, an infant drowned when the ship was wrecked.

Status

The wreck was subject to a permit, but it seems that very little work was undertaken on the wreck except to establish the location and state of preservation.
