History
The s.s. "Mecklenburg", from Vlissingen, was moored in the port of Portsmouth. On the night of 11 March 1941 during an air raid, a bomb was dropped near the ship. The quartermaster F. C. Meijer was immediately hit dead by bombshards. The oil man J. Polderman later died of injuries in the hospital in Portsmouth. The ship could be repaired again and remained in service until 1959. It was demolished in 1960 in Vlissingen.
