History
The West India Company (WIC) has brought many slaves from Africa to Curaçao. Before the slaves came ashore on Curaçao, the sick were taken out and quarantined on Klein Curaçao.
The remains of this first quarantine building of Curaçao can still be found in the northwest of the island. Those enslaved who did not survive the sea voyage were buried in Klein Curaçao. Graves have been found in the southern part of the island.
