History
The Haan was probably a convoy vessel (frigate) of the Admiralty. It was sent to the Shetland Islands in 1641 to convoy the VOC return fleet. The squadron consisted of four ships: the Reiger, Enkhuizen, Johannes and the Haan.
They were surprised by a squadron from Dunkirk in the Bay of Lerwick and a fight ensued. During this fight, the Haan, the Reiger and the Johannes sank. The Enkhuizen was taken by the Dunkirk squadron. The Haan sank at the northeast corner of Alexandra Wharf.
In Canmore ID 237132 (see references) the Haan is described as a VOC ship.
