After the conquering by the Dutch West India Company (WIC) of the city of San Salvador in Brazil, the WIC expected a counterreaction. Because of this, a large amount of ships were fitted out in 1624 to go to the area The Gulden Meulen had returned from Recife to the Netherlands in 1639, according to a ship list in the National Archives (see references). It was fitted out again and sailed to America with a large fleet under Jan Dircksz Lan. It is not clear what became of the ship.
