History
After her first trip the pinas Duif stayed in the East. Traveled between Batavia and India. The ship ran aground somewhere near Surat and was lost.

The VOC had a factory in Surat from 1616 -1795. Traded cotton and indigo.

Built: 1611 in Amsterdam for the VOC chamber of Amsterdam
Master: Serpent, Dirk Barendsz.
Tonnage: 50 tons, 25 last.
It is difficult to distinguish a yacht from a pinas. Both are smaller fast types of ships. In the contemporary literature the terms yacht and pinas are often used seemingly indiscriminately.
