History
The Bruidegom (Bruydegom) is likely the same ship that was sent by the Cape Governor in 1671 to establish whether there were any landing places on the north-eastern side of False Bay. This expedition found a small anchorage in what is now known as Gordons Bay.
The Bruidegom served the Cape Colony for about 20 years, but she wrecked after striking a rock between Meeuw and Skaap Islands.
