History
In September 1939, the Binnendijk came from Boston bound for Rotterdam. When arriving in the English Channel, the British navy wanted to inspected the vessel. The Binnendijk had to go to Portland harbour. But on her way she struck a newly laid German mine near Shambles Sandbank on 7th October. All 41 crew members could escape.
