History

The Barbestein was a Dutch East indiaman built in Amsterdam. The ship made two return voyages before leaving for Batavia on May 12, 1790 for the third voyage. The Barbestein left Batavia on February 28, 1792, bound for the Netherlands. On its way from Batavia to the Cape of Good Hope, the Barbestein never arrived there.
