History
The Avenhorn wrecked on Woodstock Beach in a north-westerly gale on the night of 16-17 May.
Fortunately, no lives were lost when the Avenhorn ran aground. No cargo was lost either because the vessel was about to proceed to Mossel Bay to pick up a cargo of wheat for Batavia.
