The Aemila was en route from Ternate to the Pescadores islands southwest of Taiwan. The captain made a navigation error. The ship ran ashore on the coast of Taiwan south of Liuqiu island (Gouden Leeuw eiland, Lameii). Parts of the cargo (pepper) and the the canons were salvaged.
