History

Hired by the admirality of Amsterdam in 1652. Modified into a war ship. Fought in the First-Anglo Dutch war  in De Ruyter's squadron. De Ruyter's ships combined their attacks so that four or more ships was board a single English ship. This happend exactly to the Vogel Struis
In the intense fighting on the first day, Captain Cruijck was killed, his crew was decimated, and the ship was heavily damaged aloft. The English took the Vogelstruis. but she was so heavily damaged that the English made her a hulk, rather than trying to return her to service. 

Battle of Portland
The Vogelstruis was captured by the English on the first day of the battle of Portland. A three day fight started near Portland. The Dutch had the upperhand. Several English flag ship were severly dammaged. The Triumph with admiral Blake was almost captured. But on the second day the Dutch fleet  ran short on ammunition. They had to redistribute there

On the third day a storm was approching and the severly wounded Blake withdrew.Captured by the English on the first day of the battle of Portland. A three day fight started near Portland. On the third day a storm was approching and the severly wounded Blake withdrew.

The English fleet returned the next day. Finding the Dutch fleet gone.Both sides claimed victory. Because the english retreated the third day and the Dutch fleet the fourth day.
