The Tulp leaves Texel on 23-12-1653 with destination Cape Colony, where the galleot arrives on 18-4-1654.¹
14 -8- 1655 the galleot leaves the Cape colony under Frederik Verburgh for Madagascar and Mauritius. Rice had already been purchased there before.
After leaving Mauritius, the Tulip visited a number of places near Antongil Bay in Madagascar and bought rice there. While the galleon was anchored between the east coast of Madagascar and the island of St Marie, which is close to that coast, it was struck by a hurricane, lost its anchors and foundered on the coast of Madagascar on 2-12-1655.
