History
On November 30th, 1948, the Greek passenger/cargo ship ALEXANDROUPOLIS (ex-Flower Class Corvette HMS Mignonette), built in 1941 by Hall, Russell & Co. and owned by the Greek Government, was on voyage from Lemnos to Piraeus.
ALEXANDROUPOLIS had on board 44 crew members, 99 passengers and general cargo when her Captain tried to keep to the coast in stormy weather. When passing Cape Tigani, Lemnos Island, she struck a reef to the south of Islet Tigani and was holed badly. She sank in deeper waters after all were taken off.
