History

The Moesi was a tanker in service of the KNSM in the Dutch East Indies. She was requisitioned by the Royal Navy in 1939 as Hr. Ms. Ben 2.

In February 1942 the ship was used as a ammunition transport ship. During the invasion of Japan, the Moesi attempted to escape from Surabaya to Australia. She was spotted just outside the Bali Strait by the Japanese submarine 'I 53' (later ! 153). She was torpedoed and sunk with gunfire. The load consisted of 150 mm artillery shells.
