The Margaretha Catharina was a ship in the service of the West India Company (WIC, Northern Quarter Chamber) intended for the slave trade. Along with the Grote Tijger, Zon, and Duynenburg, the ship was sent from Texel to Africa on October 13, 1704, to replace a number of ships lost to French privateers in June 1704 (Tijger, Rachel *).

The Margaretha Christina also met this fate. The ship was likely captured by French privateers somewhere off the coast of West Africa.

In fact, 47 crew members were taken in at the WIC post in Accra. The men were sent on to Elmina, where they were to be provided with provisions by the governor. (vergadering Tien 3-12-1707)
