History

The Hoorn. Her third outward bound journey started on December 18, 1636 with her departure from Texel. Due to heavy ice and contrary winds she was forced to return to Zeeland.
A second attempt to finish did not go better. In February or March 1637, De Hoorn lost her main mast in the English Channel and had to return. She then ran aground on the sandbanks near Brouwershaven and was lost:
