Het Hart was a jacht in the service of the Dutch West India Company (WIC), Zeeland Chamber. The ship departed from Vlissingen in the spring of 1630, bound for the West Indies as part of a squadron commanded by Jan Gijsbertsz Booneter; the mission was to reinforce Admiral Jansz Pater, who had been active in the Caribbean since 1628.¹

In late August, the combined fleets of Admiral Pater and Commander Booneter took up positions near Cuba, intending to ambush the expected Spanish Treasure Fleet. However, the Spanish were forewarned, and the Treasure Fleet was already well on its way to Spain. Consequently, Jansz Pater returned to the Netherlands with a large part of his fleet, while Booneter remained behind to capture as many Spanish ships as possible.
Het Hart continued to cruise the Caribbean in search of Spanish vessels under Booneter's command. (Booneter's letter) Booneter's squadron eventually departed for the Netherlands in August 1631.

The jacht Hart was lost off the coast of Guinea on June 5, 1633.
The gold on board was salvaged.
