stepping stones of maritime history

History

The Elisabeth was a motor lugger from the Dutch port of IJmuiden with registration number IJM 253. The ship left from IJmuiden on October 21st, 1917, but never returned. The IJM 253 was lost with all hands. According to the Shipping Council, the possible cause could have been a storm that raged from October 24th until 26th. But it can also be that the wartime circumstances were the cause of the loss (see references)
